Looking to reignite your love for yoga – and for yourself? You’ve come to the right place!
I’m Hillary, an ICF-Certified Life Organization Coach and the founder of Simple Harmonic. As part of my own self-care practices, I’ve been following Yoga with Adriene on YouTube for years. Her annual 30 Days of Yoga challenges have become a staple in my yearly plans. In fact, I’ve summarized each of her January series since 2015 here on my blog.
If you’re brand new to Yoga with Adriene, I always recommend starting with the OG 30 Days of Yoga series. Each series provides a solid review of the principles of yoga. However, I find that some of the sentiments, jokes, and references are much more satisfying when you’ve experienced the first challenge as a baseline.
That said, Adriene’s two most recent challenges, Move (2022) and Breath (2021) provide unique experiences to deepen your practice, whether you come to the mat regularly or need a refresher. So with that, let’s dive in!
Yoga with Adriene Breath: A 30 Day Yoga Journey
I followed Adriene’s “Breath” series as it was released in January 2021, with one practice a day. This series felt very foundational, building from the ground up for both the physical and mental aspects of yoga. I completed “Breath” in conjunction with my own exercise routine (shoutout to my fave Sydney Cummings for her free YouTube workouts!) as it wasn’t very strenuous. But this series also helped me develop my emotional resilience during a personally challenging month. The practice lengths were quite varied, so downloading the calendar from Adriene’s website is a must.
In Summary: For those looking to focus on the mindfulness aspect of yoga, “Breath” is a great choice.
Yoga with Adriene Move: A 30 Day Yoga Journey
I wrapped up this series yesterday after following it closely through the month of January. I have to say, this is the first year I would truly label as “challenging”. The name of the series, “Move”, should have been a clue that the physical practice would be in the spotlight this year. Despite my consistent workout routine throughout 2021, “Move” still challenged my strength and endurance. It was also the shortest series of Adriene’s so far, with each practice clocking in at under 30 minutes. This made it easy to fit into a busy schedule, whether you prefer morning yoga sessions or evening wind-downs.
In Summary: If you’re a more experienced yogi or are focusing on physical wellness, “Move” will be an excellent fit for you.
