Simple Harmonic

My Story

Hey there! I’m Hillary.

I’m a life organization coach for new grads and young professionals that want to get their shit together so they can chase their big dreams.

My Story

I’m also a physics grad, a cat mom, a notebook addict, a meme lover, and a proud nerd all around.

I created Simple Harmonic because I’m passionate about helping other young women navigate the overwhelm of adulthood.

The scariest part about life after graduation was realizing that the goals were now up to me. In school, the objectives were clear: good grades, job offers, some semblance of a social life. There was also a light at the end of the tunnel. Even if I wasn’t totally in love with my major (which, I mean, I wasn’t), graduation was just around the corner.

Entering the corporate world was different. The decades of my working life were stretched out before me. Society and my loved ones kept telling me to “do what I love”. The only problem was that I had no idea what that meant. I watched my friends decide to follow their passions for teaching, nursing, marketing, and even entrepreneurship. But no matter how often I thought about it, I couldn’t even begin to guess what path would really light me up.

Plus, now I had all these new, adult responsibilities…

  • My high-stress “big girl” job
  • Paying my bills
  • Keeping the house clean
  • Staying (or in my case, getting) in shape
  • Eating healthy
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Maintaining my friendships
  • Family obligations
  • Trying to have hobbies
  • And, apparently, deciding on the ideal path for my life?!

Despite all this, I had this strong feeling, deep down, that I needed to be pursuing my legacy. And I needed to know what it was in order to make it happen. I knew my true purpose wasn’t to worry incessantly about my to do list! But beyond that, I was at a complete loss.

I spent hours poring over self-help books and podcasts, desperate to figure out where my passions might lie. No matter how many lofty goals I set for myself, I’d become so consumed with my day-to-day responsibilities that my momentum would grind to a halt. I constantly felt frazzled and disorganized.

If I couldn’t keep up with work, chores, friends, family, health, and finances, how could I possibly have time to figure out my true direction in life?

But I knew time wasn’t the issue. Somehow, in the midst of 60-hour work weeks and my own high expectations, I’d binge-watched entire shows on Netflix and spent countless hours on Instagram!

My wake-up call was a bit of a quarter-life crisis. I realized that even though my life was far more complicated than it was in school, there would never be a better time to get my shit together than right now. My responsibilities and relationships would only get more complex. And I would never have more time to find and pursue my passions.

Through tons of research and reflection, I learned that it takes a blend of structure, inner alignment, and accountability to organize your life, giving you the freedom to finally identify and chase those big goals of yours.

For me, I was able to determine my personal values and priorities, find efficiencies in all of the key areas of my life, and give myself permission to finally envision my desired future. I created a sustainable plan for my physical, mental, and financial well-being that set me up for consistency and future success. And I released the expectation of the “perfect” idea before launching a business and brand that felt authentic to me. That meant discovering my passion for helping other young women organize and elevate their work, space, health, wealth, and self.

I can’t wait to chat with you about your passions, your challenges, and how you can use the principles of organization to achieve your own Simple Harmonic life!
